Library Service Changes 2025

This guide outlines changes coming to various Musselman Library services in 2025, including but not limited to the OhioLINK library services platform migration and migration to the new EBSCOhost database user interface for several research databases.

Important dates

Date What will happen
February 28, 2025 Purchasing deadline for new additions to the library's book and ebook collections.  Because of other system freeze dates beginning in March 2025, we have to freeze adding new information to the library catalog.
May 9, 2025 Suggested deadline for OhioLINK and SearchOhio requesting to allow your requests to be processed and sent by lending libraries and to allow a small window for backup requests to be placed before the requesting freeze on May 23.

OhioLINK and SearchOhio requesting freezes at 5pm on Friday, May 23, 2025.  The request button will be removed, and no new requests or renewals can be placed after this time. 

Please consider returning to the library before Tuesday, June 3, any OhioLINK items you are not using or plan to use during the summer, in order to reduce the number of loaned items circulating across the state during the system transition.  You may keep items which you’re using or plan to use later in the summer. You may be notified of shifting due dates via email as we go live on the new library system.
June 3, 2025 Local checkouts will shift to a manual, offline system. 
June 18, 2025

Approximate Go-live date for our new library services platform. 

OhioLINK requesting resumes shortly after this date.
Later fall 2025 SearchOhio requesting will resume.  This service is more complicated to bring back online and so will take longer into 2025 to restore.
