In RefWorks, go to the Search option on the toolbar. Select Online Catalog or Database.
On the resulting page, you will be able to choose the catalog you want to search, for example, OhioLINK, or the British Library.
You can choose to do a Quick Search or an Advanced Search.
After you entered your search terms, click on the Search button at bottom right.
PLEASE NOTE: The number of results you get from searching a particular catalog from within RefWorks may vary from the number you get when you search that catalog itself (outside of RefWorks).
Select the desired records and click on Import.
- NOTE: if you select records on a page, you must click on Import before navigating away from the page (for example, before you move to another page of records), or those selections will be lost.
When you click on Import, you will get a popup window asking you to confirm that you want to import the selected references. Click on OK.
The Import Completed message will appear.
On this screen, you will have the option to Edit Imported References – if you click on this, it will give you the chance to edit as a group all the references you have just imported. For example, you can add the records to specific folder. If you make changes, be sure to click on the Save Changes button.
After you've done the above, you may also wish to click on View Last Imported Folder (option at bottom right) – you can view all the references you've just imported. It’s always a good idea to check individual records to be sure they imported properly, or to see if there's something in the record that you want to change.
To see a record in greater detail, you can click on the magnifying glass symbol to the right of the record. Then on the resulting screen, if you want to make changes, you can click on the Edit button (or you can go directly to the edit screen by clicking on the pencil-over-paper symbol to the right of the record).
Be sure to click on the Save Reference button after you've made any changes.
